The Town of Jean Lafitte was incorporated in 1974 and is governed by a mayor-council form of government. The Town’s major operations include public safety, public works, culture and recreation, and general administrative services.

We are located just 30 minutes from New Orleans, but we are truly a world apart…a community on the banks of the bayou and surrounded by wetlands and swamps.
